How these scams usually work
A fake shop or social-media seller advertises popular items (phones, laptops, clothes, cosmetics) at attractive prices, takes a payment or "advance", then delivers nothing, sends a different item, or goes silent.
Warning signs
- Price far below what other sellers charge, often with "limited stock" pressure.
- Seller insists on full or partial advance payment and refuses cash on delivery.
- No shop address, no verifiable business registration, new or copied social profiles, photos taken from other websites.
- Reviews that look copied or are all posted at once; comments turned off.
- The seller changes the account or wallet they want you to pay.
How to buy more safely
- Search the seller's phone, account and wallet on ScamCheck Nepal.
- Choose cash on delivery or inspect before paying wherever possible.
- Ask for a live video of the exact item and a receipt or invoice.
- Keep all chats and receipts, and report if something goes wrong (what to do).
