Common forms

  • Guaranteed returns: fixed high monthly profit with no risk.
  • Pyramid or referral schemes: your returns depend on recruiting others.
  • Crypto, forex or "trading" groups: a chat group, a screenshot of "profits" and an app or website that shows growing balances you cannot withdraw.
  • "Double your money" and cooperative-style promises from people or entities you cannot verify.

Questions to ask first

  1. Who is legally responsible? Is the entity registered, and with which authority? Verify it yourself with that authority, not through the promoter.
  2. Where exactly is the money kept, and can you withdraw freely, including your principal?
  3. Is the promise of profit realistic? Genuine investments carry risk and do not guarantee returns.

Search the promoter's phone and account on ScamCheck Nepal, but remember that a new scheme will not have reports yet. Never invest money you cannot afford to lose, and see what to do if you have already paid.
